3rd class to run Communion teas

The committee thought it might be easier for 3rd class parents to run Communion teas for 2nd clas,s having experienced it the previous year.

It can be a daunting experience for 1st class parents, many of whom have don’t have older girls in the school.

It was put to the vote at the last PA meeting, Tue Feb 2nd and the change was voted in by a majority.

A flyer will go out to 3rd class parents closer to the time. If you helped out last time then perhaps another parent can volunteer this year? We hope that all parents will get involved in some way, either on the day or by baking or bringing some cakes to school.

This years Communion will be held on May 21st and Communion teas will be in the Halla. Due to Confirmation being on a school day, Confirmation teas will continue in The Crypt of the Church.

1 and 2 cent collection

We made 411 Euro on this coin collection.

Thank you for all your donations and to all the volunteers who helped count and bag the money.

Farewell to Carmel

Thank you all for your very generous wishes and donations towards Carmel’s retirement. She was overwhelmed by the generosity of St Catherine’s parents.

We gave her a picture by Peter Buckley, 1500 in cash towards her travels as well as a card signed by all the girls and parents.

Below is an email I received from her to us:

Sarah- What a lovely way to start this Saturday morning 😊. The Bucket List is growing!
Sarah can I just say how totally overwhelmed I am by the kindness and generosity of you all ! The stunning picture done by Peter will be treasured forever by me and family as will the exquisite card which Angela so beautifully wove together as this captures me and what I sought to do each day. As for your extraordinary contribution to my travel plans ! What Can I Say…….. I promise to make even more treasured memories with it and will think of you all along the way.  St. Catherine’s has a way of getting into your heart and soul and that’s certainly true of me so I’ll keep in touch and hear about all the great adventures ahead for you all.
I will be writing to the PA of course but in the meantime Sarah please pass on my heartfelt thanks to one and all. It has been a joy to know you all and your amazing girls .
